My friend Michelle is a Breast Cancer survivor. She is participating later this year in the Susan G Komen 3 Day Walk in the Tampa Bay area. She'll be walking 60 miles!!!!

She has asked her friends and family to please spread the word of her journey, in hopes to raise money for her cause. Below is a message I have posted on my facebook in hopes that my friends will share the message with their friends and help her reach her goal.

Please, if you have a moment, please share the post below where ever you can, facebook, twitter, forums and so on. I'd really appreciate the help! Please read below for the rules of this giveaway. For all those who participate and comment with the link of where they posted, they will be entered into the giveaway for a Creative Fly Designz pink cotton yarn lariat.

This lariat is crocheted from Sugar N Cream cotton yarn. It's approx. 100 inches in length - Bright pink flower and petal shaped - the ends are not connected. Plenty long to wrap around your neck a couple times and let the ends hang, or fold in half and loop through the fold around your neck, or just wrap around once and halve the long strands accessorizing your outfit.

You have until the end of February to share the post below and comment on this blog. On March 1st, 2011 at 9am (Est) I will randomly pick a winner based on the number of comments using random.org.

SoFoBoMo Inspired Project

Hello everyone! Thanks for still continuing to pop in once in a while to see if I have updated anything and what not. What a HOT and Humid summer it has been! But that hasn't stopped me from creating and being inspired. In the beginning on July 2010, I discovered a website www.sofobomo.org. It's an online group that inspires photographers and designers to set goals for themselves and create a book. I was quite excited when I read about it, and jumped right in 4th of July weekend. Then ... time got the best of me, and here and there I would shoot for this project ... well Today, August 1st, 2010, I used wix.com to create my online book.

I'm happy with the results, next year I will do it more in a photo book format, but it was a great experience, and it definitely opened my eyes to the possibilities, as long as you stay focused, and finish the project in the end.

The Nature of Inspiration

I know I haven't posted in quite some time again ... thanks for checking in from time to time.

Real Estate is going well, and lots of creative juices are flowing ... sometimes inspiration seems like it's so far away, and yet .. sometimes it's in your own backyard, or in your family's backyard :)

My sister lives next door, and lives on a horse farm with a beautiful pond. Well the other day I went down to the pond and brought my camera with me ... and got some shots that I'm really happy with ... there is a funny story behind the sunflower shots ... back behind the pond is where they throw the muck piles ... well the horses are fed black oil sunflower seeds .. and well you can probably figure out the rest ... gotta love that fertilization!!

I know I have been kinda MIA lately, and I do apologize. I just haven't been focused on creative projects. I've been focused on working with my new real estate career, and I have to say, it's taking off quite nicely!

Besides working towards being a successful Realtor, here in the Southwest Florida area, I'm always still thinking of ways to promote my shop on Etsy, and find new ways to be creative. This past week, I did just that along with the inspiration of my husband. I have a new small line of wire beaded jewelry coming soon, I don't know how many pieces I will create, but I am happy to say I will soon be offering rings and hair accessories once I complete the process.

I do wish everyone a happy month of February and thanks again for reading my blog :)

I hope all are doing well. Thank you for continuing to be a blog follower. I'm currently in a state of mind that unfortuantley crafting creativity has not been a priority. So the blog has been really slow. I hope to pick back up soon ... just need to focus on my Real Estate career ... luckily, I have been doing some graphic design work for fellow agents - which helps me going on the creative side of things ... but not too much with the wire, beads and crocheting. I have however been tooling around with some photography ... I'll post some images soon.

I was thinking of branching my etsy shop apart so I can include photography prints and images as a new shop ... any thoughts? Photography has always been a passion of mine, and my husband got me this awesome new lens for Christmas this past year ... a 55mm-250mm Canon with stabilizer! I love it!

I know I haven't been posting alot lately .. I have been busy with my career change and just life in general - I hope to pick up again soon .. this post is on a more personal note ...

One year ago today was the best, happiest, most memorable day in my life!! I got married to my best friend, my true love, my inspiration. Today is my One Year Anniversary and I just wanted to say. "I love you Wayne, Happy Anniversary!" I can't wait to see all our creative goals play out for us in our lifetime. I'm happy to announce that I have been inspired to branch out my Aromigurumis and I now have Aromigurumis for Kitties!!!

Different colored dangling creatures crocheted and then filled with either catnip or jingle bells for you and your kitty to have some play time! These great handmade toys were inspired by my original Aromigurumis and a fellow Etsy shop member making a comment that the Aromigurumis were kinda had an animal feel (thanks Petsjubilee)... and every time I am in the middle of creating an Aromigurumi our kitties are always trying to play with the yarn ... so from that night on ... Aromigurumis for Kitties were born :)

New beginnings

Like I mentioned in an earlier post, I am now with Keller Williams Realty in Fort Myers, FL. In the process of getting started, one of the first steps is to build a contact list, especially of those who are interested in Real Estate. So, I'm including a post here on this blog in regards to my new career to see if any of my readers are interested in any real estate information for the Southwest Florida area.

Our lovely etsy community has always put the confidence in my creations, and here I have a new journey I'm starting. I do hope it will be just as fun to build a fan base, and a following network within this new field of business for me. I will be starting an additional blog about my journey and real estate information about the area I will be mastering, here in Florida. Once that is up, I will post a link about it here, but for the most part, I do plan to keep the 2 separate, as they should be :)

November already - here's an update!

Hey everyone .. I hope you all are doing well! I've had alot going on in the last couple weeks, and today I'm proud to announce that I am officially employed with Keller Williams in Fort Myers, FL. I signed onto the company yesterday. It's been quite a journey to get to this point, but a fun one, and interesting one. I knew very little about real estate, then I jumped in head first into a crash course, to learn all I'll need to know to pass the state exam. Did you know there are at least 28 versions of the exam, and they can ask you anything related to Real Estate on it? It took me a handful of attempts, but after figuring out how to understand the wording and context of what they were asking me, I finally passed my state exam on October 20th, 2009. I want to thank my husband and my family for supporting me and encouraging me to continue with this new-to-me career option :)

So with all that said, If you are looking for a house in Lee County of Florida, or looking at selling your own, feel free to contact me :) - hehe - I had to throw that in there :)

Also, because I will be working from an office, and not from home, My Ten Dollar Tue$days may take a little more time to prepare. But I do believe in helping new etsians and promoting their work, so I may just collaborate my 10 shops and post it weekly, I just don't know which day of the week. But in Honor of the original Tuesday feature, I'll probably keep it the same name, since I should be able to post it in the evening once I get home from work. :) - hopefully that makes sense. - With that all mentioned, if you already follow my blog, and want to have a spot in the feature, please leave a comment at the end of this post with up to 3 items that are $10 or less for me to choose from, I like to try and have a variety of items for people to see what all is out there that is either handmade or vintage at affordable prices, especially with the holidays coming up.

Alot has happened in the last few weeks with Creative Fly Designz and I wanted to take this time to thank everyone who has taken the time to check out my designz and items for sale through Etsy. Wow! I have over 600 followers on twitter now! And over 100 blog followers! And oh my goodness - over 100 hearts on my Etsy shop! I'm honored, I'm really happy to have this blog and be able to share my randomness and creativity with who ever else shares those passions. My inspiration comes from my husband. Without him my life would be boring and dull. We feed off each other's ideas and creativity .. watch out world, here we come!

So, in honor of everyone who takes a few minutes out of their day to check on this blog and read about our life, I'm giving away a unique one-of-a-kind wire and glass beaded crocheted necklace. The wire is black, with black round glass beads, silver grey twist beads, and see through pink glass beads. The necklace is about 18 inches in length, but can be gently adjusted a bit by squishing or stretching the wire loops to your preference. The necklace closes with a silver toggle clasp and is about 1 inch wide.

Yes! yes! its 4 am. Thats standard. Clicking twice the calender appears Yes! yes! still October! and its only the 28th! Then he grows still, as if confronted by a horrible truth! He rubs his eyes, this cant be true. Looking once again with mouth gaped and eyes wider than that 2 girls 1 cup accidental forward to his boss incident. Its! its! 2011!!! He pauses and reflects; hmmmm! wonder if thats a record? And as if nothing has transpired begins to level a new toon. “The Envy 13 demands it!” >>

Zombicon 09!!!

OMG! We had such a good time! I want to personally thank Dale with Ocasiocasa for sharing the details about this awesome event we have in our sleepy little town of Fort Myers, FL :)

Wayne and I headed downtown about 6pm tonite ... but first we headed over to Spirit halloween shops and had to get some supplies :) - we Zombified ourselves and wow, was it a hit!

Like I said before, we got there about 6ish and checked out the blocked off area of the streets .. then this undead nurse came up to me and asked me if i wanted to donate blood .. I said sure .. they said I would look good in their photos :) ... so .. now I'm down a pint of blood - hehe, but it's for a good cause :)

SO after I gave blood, we got into the group to take part in the first Zombie march through town ... we groaned and moaned and messed with the "normal people" - everyone had a great time - it was awesome, Wayne was a hit .. people were taking pics of us as we stared into space to give them the full effect :)

The Art Show, Dark Arts 3 was a great show too, Dale's husband had a couple pieces in the show - very cool! Hopefully the mystery of the stick gets solved :)

So below are some photos ... Wayne did such an awesome job on our makeup ... not for the weak hearted - hehehehe

I <3 our kitties!

We have had our kitties since the beginning of this May ... we got them for free, from the same litter, at about 8 weeks old. Now let me start and say, I have never really been a cat person ... I grew up with doggies .. but my husband has had cats in the past and I was open to the idea, as long as I felt we got lucky with affectionate kitties. I think it's great that cats are independant, but come on now .. we all need some lovin', and especially that unconditional love from a pet.

Well, let me share with you, that our cats are independant, BUT they are so in your face affectionate, it's crazy. They are the greatest thing (dont tell our bulldog - hehe) .. our kitties actually come when they are called, and they will just cuddle right up on your chest (and get jealous of the other if the one is closer to my face), it's quite funny. We have had them now, like I said, since May, and they sure have developed their own personalities.

Their names are Zombie Chow and Zyla. Yes, Zombie Chow ... both of their names are actually homage to a game we used to play .. and those who played the game would recognize Zombie Chow's name ... Zyla on the otherhand was the second part of our little joke in our guild (And a toon name I used in that game) ... I would always say "Zombie Chow on Zyla" and our friends would always laugh through ventrilio, I guess it was the way i said it? who knows ... but anyways, we thought it would be fitting, since the kitties are alwaya playing, and at times, Zombie Chow (who is crazy furrier) would pounce on Zyla. It's quite funny actually, they are sisters and you can just tell that they love each other very much! Oh my goodness, don't seperate them for too long, Zyla has lungs on her that is just insane, oh and her purring ... OMG, we call them purr purr kitties, I sometimes have to put them in another room before I attempt to go to sleep it gets so loud!

This post really doesn't have much of a focus does it? Just all random stuff about our kitties - hehe ... anyone have a ramble about their pets? Wait till I talk about the bulldog next week - hehe

Hey everyone! I want to start a new weekly feature on my blog starting this coming Tuesday, but I need your help to do it :)

I want to feature 10 items from 10 different shops that are for $10 or less.

I will list and link the items on my blog to your item and then also tweet throughout the day about the Ten Dollar Tue$day blog and listings.

I would like 10 completely different kinds of items. With the economy in the dumps and the holidays approaching, I thought it would be cool to spread the word about affordable handcrafted items.

If you have items in your shop that are $10 or less (not including shipping) and you would like to be considered, all you have to do is become a follower of my blog and then post your $10 or less items here on this forum. You can post of up 3 items for me to choose from, and please be specific, I will not consider anyone who says anything related to "my whole shop is $10 and under", post the items you are proud of :) .. I'm here to help you!

Newbie Shops for November!!!

I know .. I know .. it's only October 7th, but I just thought of an idea and I want to get it out there now ... 1st off so I dont forget, and 2nd, to see if there is interest.

As my blog grows, with posts and followers, I would like to take the opportunity to help fellow etsians and promote thier shops too :)

So .. I was thinking ... Starting November 1st, 2009, I would include some newbie shops here (less than 15 sales and less than a year old) in my blog, in an initial blog post with a feature (a questionaire will be sent out to those interested) as well as along the side bars and help those I can in promoting their items. Then also tweet about them with items from their shop to boost thier traffic. Tweets on my own items gives me at least 20 additional daily hits - and my twitter followers grow on a daily basis - so more followers, more hits :) -

All I ask of the newbie shop is to provide me with a mini-etsy - in the same format that I asked of those promoting Breast Cancer Awareness items .. gallery style, 1 by 1 ... - then on a weekly basis I would rotate people through the bar to give them the best exposure I can.

We are all creative and we all have ideas and creations we want to share with the world .. and by working together we can all get the word out to buy and invest in handmade items.

So .. please leave a comment here on this post if you are interested ... and leave a link to your etsy shop. Towards the end of October I will contact everyone who is interested and depending how many, work out a rotation and such.

especially with my husband! We always feed off each other with our creativity! I had an etsy order this weekend for a couple aromigurumi minis, and then today a purchase of 2 of the original size ... so then the question came up .. how am I going to package these? And my husband came up with the greatest concept considering the materials we have here at the house :). And I love the outcome :) I package them in "ziplock" baggies to contain the fragrance, but a crocheted "ball of yarn" in a ziplock bag looks kinda sad - lol .. so Wayne came up with a label idea ... below is a pic - what do you all think?

We worked on the wording and such, I'm really happy with the way they came out :), Simple, yet professional looking, but then again, I'm biased - hehe :)

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, and having 3 survivors in my family, this ugly cancer really hits home. my cousin, who is my age, my aunt and then my grandmother are all survivors. They are the strongest people I know. So in honor of them, and all others who struggle and hopefully survive from this ugly monster, I have created a Think PINK section in my Etsy Shop. Think PINK at Creative Fly Designz on Etsy

As you'll see in my Shop Announcement, 50% of all the purchace prices in this Think PINK section WILL be donated to the Southwest Florida Susan G. Komen fund.

I created a few new items this week for this section specifically, and will be uploading them throughout the week.

Wow ... that's really all I can say ... I joined Twitter the other night and I'm truly amazed ... I never realized how helpful it would be to market my items and shop and goodies! I've been on twitter for 3 days now ... and I have almost 100 followers! That is so cool! and I have noticed that if i post an item on etsy .. I'll be lucky to get a couple hits on the listing ... if I post it on Twitter .. OMG ... at least 20 more hits on the item! WOW ... I wish I started Twitter a long time ago! But now I'm learning the ropes and connecting with so many more people!

Creative Fly Designz - 2nd Blog Giveaway!!!!!

It's here! It's Here! (hehe)... Creative Fly Designz 2nd Blog Giveaway is now live!!! (Yes I know it's Saturday night, but I wanted to get it posted tonite, since I wont be home till after 5pm eastern standard time tommorrow)

So here we have it! A new collection I am adding to all my creative things I offer on Etsy .... AROMIGURUMIS!!!! ... I know .. you're thinking, Aromigu what? Well .. Thanks to a fabulous blog giveaway I participated in over at lushlee.com (an adorable cute inspired website) I won a book called Creature Crochet with patterns to learn how to crochet Amigurumi creatures. Well, (while waiting for the book in the mail) I decided to use the internet and found some free basic patterns online, I started playing with stitches and created my own creatures. Then .. I decided to put my own spin on things (as usual!) :) .... So .. after creating a couple, I decided that instead of giving it a "toy" feel, I wanted them to be more a novelty, a cute desk decoration, or maybe a cute addition to someone's vehicle rear view mirror ... so ... I added scented aroma beads to the middle of my creatures, stuffed the bottom a bit with polyfil - and there we have it, Aromigurumis were born!

I'm very excited to be launching these little buddies - and as a special thanks to all my blog followers, I'm giving you all a first look at my creatures with an opportunity to win one for yourself! Based on the poll that has been running on my blog here, Clean Cotton and Vanilla were the top two scents of choice. So, the winner of this blog giveaway will be able to choose either the Vanilla or Clean Cotton creature as you see in the photo :). These little guys are hand crocheted with Lion Brand Suede style yarn and have plastic saftey eyes :) - they are about 3 inches high, and their bottoms are squishable if you need them to "sit" a different way :)

Blog revamp :)

So ... while reading some other blogs I've decided I really want to do more with mine ... One of my plans is to include other shops from etsy along the side columns to feature people on a weekly basis ... I figure as more people follow my blog, I can then help fellow etsians with promoting their shops too :) So, in order to even think of doing that my blog needed a little makeover .. I found this awesome tutorial on how to change the 2 column minimalista templete to a 3 column one ...

3 column blog - you can click that link and see all what I'm talking about

Also ... I do think the 3 columns help even out all the goodies along the sides, without having to scroll down forever ... I like things staring back at me, If I can't find something on a website within 15 seconds (if that) I get bored and move to something else ... and I know I'm not the only one like that :)

So as for now I have the 3 columns, a new "message of the day" section, a new graphic on the right - that image is of a bracelet I made (of course) :) and wear all the time, as a sample item to things in my etsy shop ... I get inspired all the time, do you?

I still have the poll going, I think those are great, what an awesome way to find out what your readers are into :) ... I'm also considering compiling a little survey too, probably by the end of the month for holiday shopping ideas, and maybe I'll use that as a catalyst for my next blog giveaway :)

Ohh, yeah :) my next blog giveaway - Woohoo, Posting that Sunday!!

... What do you do to improve your shop without relisting or adding new items?

I've decided to re shoot some of my items ... with different backgrounds and using a detailed shot as my first photo than the whole item on some of them ... I'm trying to see what catches someone's eye to get them to see what I'm all about ...

When I first started on Etsy i just shot my items on a white cardboard display ... then I went to the blue fabric - which I really like .. but some items the blue gets over bearing ... so I went and looked in my fabric surplus and found the pinkish fabric and switched out some photos .. please take a look and let me know what you think :)

I woke up to an etsy order of 4 items! Woot! ... and got payment already!!!

and .. then that made me able to order that last bit of what I needed for my newest project and collection to Creative Fly Designz! ..

I'm quite excited!

... oh yeah ... my next blog giveaway will be a piece from this new collection I've been hinting about ... just want to get to about 60 followers for it :)

So .. a while back I discovered the concept of plarn ... I played with it a little bit, and thought it was kinda silly, but unique in the same manner. Well today I went into Plarn overload - hehe ... I grabbed all the grocery bags we had in the house and cut them into the loops and then connected them and made this ....

I had to laugh when I found the Joann's bag .. and set it up .. I thought it was so fitting!

So then after making my little pouch from the grocery bags, and the blue is from best buy - hehe .. It was time to find some more ... so I grabbed a couple more bags and actually made a cute little pouch and that is my latest listing on etsy!!!

Yellowish or Pinkish photos on Etsy? Here's a way to fix it ...

I personally use Photoshop to adjust and resize my photos for what ever reason on the net ... I know some people have some difficulty finding that happy medium to have bright, crisp, clear, photos .. Well here is one way of adjusting your photograph if you are finding your camera giving you that yellowing or pinkish tint.

Color Balance is your friend, If you take a few minutes and move the slider bars either way you will see that it will adjust your photograph, and you can choose your Tone Balance, whether it's Shadows, Midtones, and Highlights. Most cases you should only have to adjust the MIDTONES section, and typically, to get reid of the yellowing, you decrease the amount of Cyan and increase the amount of Blue. And normally those numbers will be the same amount, but the Cyan will be negative.

My husband and I got a gift card for Williams Sonoma and We saw the coolest thing and had to get it! It's a grill branded .. We got our initials on it and you are able to heat it up and brand your steaks and what not with it. Well, it's been raining in the evening alot here - Welcome to Summer in Florida - so we got a little creative and branded our lunch - hehe Grilled Cheese sandwiches :)
We can't wait to use it on the grill on our steaks and chicken when we have company over :)

This bracelet is approx. 8 inches in length, and due to the nature of the wire crochet, it is easily adjustable by squishing and or stretching the wire loops gently. This bracelet does have ribbon, and wire crocheted through, as well as metal silver beads and tiny glass seed beads in a clear white. The lobster clasp is a dark grey metal and the ends of the bracelet are securely cinched and wrapped onto the clasp.

Where were you 8 years ago today?

I can still remember it clearly .. I was getting ready for work, I had to be in at 1130am .. the television was on, but I wasnt really paying attention to it, it was just on for noise ... until the playback of the 2nd plane ... It was so surreal, was this really happening?

As I drove down I-4 in Orlando, the road was bare, I felt like a zombie, the radio was broadcasting what was going on up north. I just kept thinking ... really? How could this be!

When I got to the call center .. that was a whole new experience ... you see, I used to work for WDW and book reservations. - The happiest place on earth ... well not this day, not this time, The phones were quiet, all my cubicle neighbors looking at news feeds ... we knew from that point on, Life here in the USA would not be the same.

I just wanted to take today to remember all of the inncoent fallen, give thoughts and prayers out to their families, and take today to reflect that, anything can happen, and do not take any day for granted.

So .. to give my fingers a little break from crocheting wire .. (my left pointer finger is a bit raw and starting to form a callus - eew )... I've decided to give Amigurumi a try ... considering Rooty was an attempt with no pattern or what not .. I figured it was time to really learn it ... it's fun .. and so rewarding!

Gabu is so cute! at the end of this post you will see my attempt .. overall pretty good (I love varigated yarn :) ... but I did notice I missed one row in the middle - so he's not at tall as he should be, but the pattern was so easy to follow - I can't wait to make another one!

(Thank goodness she shows how to make a circle with the 2-chain - I too can not figure out that silly magic circle!)

I just wanted to say thank you to Tamie of Roxycraft, while we have never spoken, or know each other, You have made reading patterns very easy, and your creatures are so amazing! You've inspired me to continue my adventures in Amigurumi.

I suggest anyone who is interested in Amigarumi to check out your talent and blog and wonderful projects!

SO .. here's my first attempt to a Gabu .. reading a pattern, using a marker and actually counting! Haha .. it all pays off! :)

Have you ever seen an object or a photo or an image and thought to yourself, "I can make that" ... Even when you have never made anything like it before?

Well I encountered that this past weekend, as posted before with my little project called "Rooty". I have never done Amigurumi style of crochet before .. but ever since I learned how to crochet from my grandma over 10 years ago, I've noticed, that I can better look at a photo and figure it out than read patterns. So after looking at some photos of Amigurumi creatures and playing around with some stitches, I attmpted to make a Rooty ... I think for a first attempt he didnt come out too bad :) (Oh I know the legs should be the same color as everything else, but I ran out of yarn, and to keep the consistancy of the cotton yarn, it was either hot pink - lol .. or the varigated brown ... )

I would love to hear from all of you, have you ever completed a little project not knowing a pattern, or kinda winging it and happy with the results? Please feel free to post a comment :)

Rooty update - lol

so .. being silly this morning I decided Rooty needed to have a body and some arms ... I had limited amount of this colored yarn left .. so I figured the top of him can be this light color .. and his legs can be a different color brown ... so here's an updated photo ... oh btw .. I've never done this ind of project ... so I'm really just winging it .. no pattern, barely counting - no markers - LOL .. just being silly and having fun :)

Well this is kinda a side note .. but to be able to learn a little more about me ... I'm a gamer ... and with the new game Aion out with an open beta - we've been checking it out and it's alot of fun! Now you are probably thinking .. what does this have to do with crochet and art? Well .. throughout the server restarts and lag times, I started a little side project. There is a little NPC called Rooty in the game .. a cute (yet ugly) ginger root in the game - and squeaks when it dies - sad i know :( ... But anyways ... I took some screenshots of this little guy, and thought, I can make one! Below is a photo of my monitor with the whole guy there, and then, here's the head I made ... I will be working on the body this week .. and will post more as I go ... silly I know .. but it's all about staying creative!
